We’re not photogenic: How to get authentic wedding photos
“We’re not photogenic”: How to get authentic wedding photos and stay true to yourselves
“We’re not photogenic,” “we don’t know how to pose,” “we have no idea what to do in front of a camera”—these are the phrases I hear at almost every first meeting with my couples. And do you know what I tell them? That is absolutely normal. You are getting married to live one of the happiest days of your life, not to audition for a magazine cover.
With me, it will be easy. I don’t expect you to be actors or models. My job is not just to “take photos,” but to be your guide and create an environment where you can forget the camera exists and simply enjoy each other.
Why grooms fear the camera (and how to fix it)
Most often, it is actually the grooms who worry the most. They often feel that a photoshoot is boring, tedious, or awkward. But I have an approach: I don’t force you to “pose.” I give you simple tasks—hug her, whisper something in her ear, just walk side-by-side. When the focus shifts from the camera to the person you love, all the nerves disappear. Natural smiles, genuine laughter, and that real sparkle in your eyes take over.
Why a Love Story is your “secret weapon”
If you feel that the fear of the camera is your biggest hurdle, I highly recommend doing a Love Story (pre-wedding) session. It’s not just about “pretty pictures”—it’s your rehearsal:
Get comfortable: You get used to me, my shooting style, and how I direct the process.
Boost your confidence: You will see yourself in the photos and realize how beautiful you truly are.
Practical use: These photos aren’t just for your phone gallery. Use them for your wedding invitations, display them at the venue, or create a slideshow. It creates a consistent style for your celebration before the big day even begins.
What is “Flow” and why it’s better than posing
Many couples worry that they “don’t know what to do with their hands.” Don’t worry; that is my responsibility. First, I will show you the base: how to stand, how to tilt your head, and how to place your hands. This creates the confidence you need.
But as soon as you feel grounded, we move into Flow (movement). We will walk, adjust your clothes, share gentle kisses, and laugh. Real magic is born in that movement. I am just a witness to this flow, gently capturing it for your wedding album.
The secret to perfect timing: European comfort meets Arabic scale
Many brides worry about being torn between guests and the photographer. My strategy is to combine the best of both worlds: The Pre-Zaffa Session.
This is the time before the guests arrive, when the hall is already set, the lights are dimmed, and the decor looks flawless. You can spend these precious minutes just the two of you—exchanging vows or simply talking while looking into each other’s eyes. You get your best portraits and photos with the decor before the crowd arrives. When the party begins, your wedding photos are already done. You can freely enjoy the evening with your guests without feeling like you need to “run away.”
And if you want a little more variety, we can always carve out 10–15 minutes during the party—for example, during sunset—to capture a few dynamic, live shots against a beautiful arch or backdrop, and you’ll be back with your guests in no time. It’s not “stealing time”; it’s a refreshing break.
My philosophy: Honest aesthetics
I know you fear receiving “artificial” photos where you look like strangers. My style is honest aesthetics. I won’t ask you to “pretend you’re in love.” I will create the conditions where you cannot help but be in love. We will talk, move, and laugh, and in the process, the camera will capture those moments you might not even notice yourself. Your confidence is my responsibility. You don’t need to think about how to stand or where to put your hands. You just need to trust me, take the hand of the person you love, and live this day exactly as you dreamed.

True beauty is not a “perfect” angle; it’s your sincere feelings captured in the lens.
